Multiple Ethereum client teams have released critical updates ahead of the Dencun upgrade activation on February 7th. Lodestar v1.15.0 is mandatory for Holesky users, while Prysm v4.2.1 and Nimbus releases are highly recommended for network participants.
Ethereum's upcoming Fusaka hard fork will implement EIP-7825, introducing a per-transaction gas limit cap of approximately 16.78 million gas. This change is already active on Holesky and Sepolia testnets and will affect developers and users who rely on very large transactions.
The Pectra testnet activation exposed deposit contract configuration issues across Ethereum testnets. While Sepolia recovered quickly, Holesky experienced significant inactivity leaks during its recovery process before eventually finalizing.
The Holešky testnet has reached its planned end-of-life date and will be shut down 2 weeks after the Fusaka upgrade finalizes. Most validator nodes will be discontinued and the testnet will no longer receive client or testing support.
Ethereum's Mekong devnet is being deprecated as the Pectra network upgrade has been successfully activated on Sepolia and Holesky testnets. The Mekong devnet previously served as a testing environment for wallet developers and stakers to experiment with upcoming Pectra changes.
